Dr Cherilyn Lewis
I am a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist who has worked extensively with individuals and families with brain injury and neurological conditions.
I completed my undergraduate and clinical doctoral training at the University of Oxford. I have also been awarded the post-doctoral Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychologist (QiCN) by the British Psychological Society (BPS), a quality mark of expertise in applied Neuropsychological assessment and treatment.
I have over 17 years of experience in diagnostic cognitive assessment, mental capacity assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, psychological therapy for adjustment to brain injury or condition progression, management of behaviours that challenge, and vocational rehabilitation.
I am trained in the delivery of person-focused, evidence-based psychological therapies adapted for individuals with cognitive or communication difficulties after brain injury, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I also offer Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), which has started to yield some promising results with brain injury and functional conditions. I am listed on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SCRN) which is considered a 'gold standard' for Neuropsychologists whose practice has been validated and assessed to be of a sufficently high standard by the BPS.
As well as cognitive assessment and psychological therapy, I have completed Bond Solon expert witness training and offer medicolegal assessments for medical negligence and personal injury civil cases. I have expertise in delivering training to help non-neuropsychology professionals such as occupational health practitioners and Human Resources Managers understand how to supporting individuals with a brain injury or neurological condition. I also provide individual or small-group supervision for psychologists, allied health professionals, and social workers.
I am registered with and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
